DUBAI — Abu Dhabi artificial intelligence firm Presight bought a 51% stake in AIQ, a joint technology venture between the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and G42, a major Abu Dhabi-based AI and cloud company. The new ownership structure will see ADNOC holding 49% of the company and giving it a valuation of $1.4 billion, according to a joint company press release. ADNOC will in turn get a 4% stake in Presight, as it aims to integrate AI into more of its operations and services. AIQ uses AI and machine learning to improve processes in the oil and gas industry.

BOTZ has been a key beneficiary of the AI advance, garnering $594 million in inflows this year, according to FactSet. While many investors see AI as a tech play, Todd Sohn, ETF and technical strategist at Strategas Securities, believes that the benefit of industrials is an under-the-radar narrative worth taking a second glance at. And because data is what's driving AI, Maier said, larger companies like Amazon , Alphabet and Meta Platforms best retain that type of exposure. "Right now, [data] is what AI is, while we're trying to figure out where AI is going," he said. Investors should be wary of buying exchange-traded funds that hold artificial intelligence stocks to chase the trend's big gains, according to Bank of America. On Tuesday, investment and ETF strategist Jared Woodard initiated coverage of eight AI funds, which had an average gain of 27% year to date. … Valuations are steep: the average AI ETF trades at 31x earnings. Bank of America also cautioned that investors should be sure to check the holdings of any AI fund because some AI indexes are "loosely defined." Woodard wrote that the Global X Robotics & Artificial Intelligence ETF (BOTZ) is the closest thing to a "pure play" AI fund.

DUBAI, June 22 (Reuters) - Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Abu Dhabi artificial intelligence company G42 are having early discussions about a possible flotation of their joint venture technology firm AIQ, two sources with knowledge of the matter told Reuters. AIQ, which is 60% owned by ADNOC and 40% by G42, uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to optimise processes, improve planning and increase profitability for ADNOC and the wider oil and gas industry. AIQ recently hired veteran investment banker Youssef Salem as chief financial officer, the sources said. G42, which is backed by Abu Dhabi state fund Mubadala Investment Co, AIQ and Salem did not immediately respond to a request for comment. It listed its gas business in March after raising $2.5 billion from the IPO, which was the world's biggest in the first quarter.

Ark Invest's Cathie Wood, known for her investments in next-generation technologies, missed out on the jaw-dropping rally in Nvidia — the biggest winner in artificial intelligence this year. Her flagship Ark Innovation ETF (ARKK) exited Nvidia entirely in early January, before the chipmaker went on to enjoy a powerful rally that propelled it to a $1 trillion market capitalization. She even trimmed Nvidia holdings in her smaller funds on Thursday when the stock spiked 26% on a huge forecast beat driven by AI chip demand. & Robotics ETF (ARKQ) now has 4.4% in Nvidia, while its biggest holding is Tesla with a 14% weighting. In its base case, Ark believes Exact Sciences could compound at an average annual rate of 25%, reaching $140 by 2027.
By comparison, less than 5% of companies mentioned AI in analyst calls held during the first quarter of 2016. Big Tech mentions jump AI has been a growing theme in Big Tech as companies try to capitalize on the wave following 2022's selloff. In calls from Big Tech companies alone, AI was mentioned 265 times. Executives at real estate company UDR said its AI chat has a 10% higher closing rate than normal call centers. Interpublic Group of Companies CEO Philippe Krakowsky noted the advertising company brought on a chief AI officer two years ago.
